Robert L. Diamond

Robert L. Diamond co-founded RDI in 1988 and continues to serve as Chairman Emeritus and in other executive capacities. He was co-founder of Xeleum Lighting and served as its chief executive officer until it was acquired by Eiko Global in 2019. Prior to Xeleum, Robert co-founded Xanboo and served as its Board Chairman until the company was purchased by AT&T in 2010. Prior to Xanboo, he co-founded and served as Executive Chairman of CIDCO Incorporated, a manufacturing company of Telecommunication products, from its founding through 1996. He is the holder of a Caller ID engineering patent and, in 1996, was the recipient of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. 

Prior to CIDCO, Mr. Diamond was President of Robert Diamond Inc., an engineering consulting and manufacturer’s representative firm he founded in 1971. He was previously Director of Marketing for North American Philips’ Broadcast TV Division and Senior Engineer at Philco Research. 

Mr. Diamond holds a BSEE from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute and graduated with high honors. While an undergraduate, he was a member of the Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, and Sigma Xi engineering honor societies. He is the recipient of the 2013 WPI Innovator of the Year Award, the 2006 Robert H. Goddard Award for Outstanding Professional Achievement and the Wilfred L. Peel Contest Prize for the development of “Food from the Ocean” He also holds a Doctor of Engineering honorary degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
